Night Game

This evening Neil's friend gave him a pair of Rockies tickets, so he called home to see if my mom wanted to go to a game on Friday night. I relayed the message about the night game, she said YES, and I hung up. While my mom and I were chatting about going to a night game, how fun that is, and how cold it is going to be, I sort of remember Tristan chattering away about something. This isn't new because he never stops talking these days.
Finally we started to listen to him and he was talking about "the game". I told him he wasn't going this time because it was a night game. His response, "I want to play the night game, too." With that he started excitedly going around, shutting all the lights in the house off, and singing, "I want to play the night game!" I looked at my mom and we burst out laughing! He thought it was an actual game we were going to play. He didn't know what it was all about, but he was sure it was supposed to be dark. I love it when Tristan takes things so literally and comes up with the funniest things!

Where Were The Crackerjacks I Was Promised?

Since Neil found out we were having a boy about three and a half years ago, I think he has been looking forward to taking him to a baseball game. Neil has a pure love for the game of baseball and I know he hopes to share this with all of his sons.

This game was especially cool because my mom got to go with them. We have been preparing Tristan for this day for weeks. Singing the songs, getting the t-shirts, and for my own comfort I was coaching him on what to do if he found himself without Neannie and daddy in that big crowd. I really had low expectations for his ability to sit in one seat for more than 20 minutes, but the report came back to contrary. He loved the game and all that went with it! Of course he quickly made friends with all the people around him and reminded them of when it was time to cheer and informing them of what player was at bat. Even though there was ice cream, snacks, and a visit to the playground, when he was asked his favorite part he said, "watching the game!" The pride in his father's eyes was clear. Can't wait to send them to more games!
After all the excitement and no nap, it was no surprise that the little guy tuckered out on the way home. He was one happy boy still telling me stories of the game as I got him ready for bed. The last thing he told me as I walked to the door was, "I'm going to dream about the baseball game tonight so I can go again."

Someday I Will Get Stuff Done

After being out here for a few weeks, I think my mom finally understands why I don't answer/make phone calls, check my mailbox, make dinners that take more than 20 minutes, try to eat said dinner until children are in bed, have closets that are not pretty to look at, or care about what I am wearing.
